Local sales tax rates are increasing in two Alabama municipalities, effective May 1, 2015.
General rate: up 1% to 4%
Admissions to places of amusement and entertainment: up 1% to 4%
Retail selling price of food for human consumption sold through vending machines: up 1% to 4%
Net difference paid for machines, machinery and equipment used in planting, cultivating and harvesting farm products: up 0.5% to 2%
Net difference paid for all automotive vehicles, truck trailers, semi-trailers and house trailers: up 0.5% to 2%
Withdrawal fee for automotive vehicle dealers only: up 6% to 12%.
Sales and use tax rates in the Town of Parrish have been see-sawing between 3% and 4% for some time now. The rate for several goods and services increased from 3% to 4% in July 2014, then dropped back down to 3% in January 2015. Effective May 1, 2015, the rate for the following will again increase to 4%:

All other rates remain the same.
Sales made outside the corporate limits of Clio and Parrish but inside the police jurisdiction of each city are half of the rates listed above. Additional information is available from theAlabama Department of Revenue.
