Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2015 offers some flexibility when customizing the Cues on the Activity Parts of the Role Center. One way to enhance the user experience and highlight exceptions or add meaning to the values presented on the tiles is to add color coding. This requires minimal development.
Example: Purchase Invoices Due Today
The standard cue displays the number of open Vendor Ledger Entries with a Due Date of <= Work Date.
While the count of “11” documents is a good indictor – what if we could add color to the tiles to bring meaning to the value for No. of Documents:No. of DocumentsColor Indicator<10Green11..20Yellow>20Red
To accomplish this:
Save a copy of the respective Activities Page, e.g. Account Manager Activities.
Add a Global Variable ‘CueSetup’ of Type Codeunit and Subtype Cue Setup and Fn ‘CalculateCueFieldValues’. Add a second Variable of Type Text.
Add Code to OnAfterGetRecord Trigger
Change field property SourceExpr for ‘Purchase Invoices Due Today’ to assign CueColor variable
Re-open Role Center page or restart client and review/test changes by editing the Due Date on Vendor Ledger Entries
Cue Colors can be used in the following ways:
Without conditions, i.e. static
Conditional colors based on Boolean variables
Conditional colors based on Text or CU variables
