Make Templates in Dynamics NAV 2016 to Create Items, Customers or Vendors
Follow the instructions below and learn how to setup a new Vendor Template to use for creating Vendor records. Configuration templates support the batch creation of new master data and setup values during implementation with RapidStart. With the Apply Template function you can also use data templates for the ongoing task of creating new master data records such as item, vendor and customer cards.
First, let’s step thru the process of setting up a Vendor Template.
Navigate to the Vendor Card and select Apply Template.
This will bring up the Config. Template List window, click New.
In the New – Config. Template Header window, populate the following.
On the General tab, populate the Code, Description and Table ID field.
Please note the Table ID is 23 for Vendor
On the Lines, populate the Type, Field Name and Default Value.
Click OK when you complete this template.
In the example below, we gave our Code VENDORUSA, assigned it to Table ID 23 and added 2 fields to default the value.
Next, we will create a new Vendor no. and select the Apply Template function to select the Template we setup above.
Create New Vendor Card.
Click Apply Template and select a Config. Template List.
When you click OK, the template will be copied to the new Vendor Card.
The same steps also apply to the Customer and Items in Dynamics NAV.
