Microsoft Convergence 2015 – Reporting in on Day 1- Keynote Session
This morning kicked off early with a great band welcoming the 12,000 attendees from 76 countries into the Phillips Arena. I don’t know how they got this fired up this early in the morning! The energy and enthusiasm at first light of Microsoft Convergence 2015 rushed through my body like a triple shot of espresso and I was not alone.
Shot One: Judson Althoff President, Microsoft North American started off with mentioning that Convergence is the premier event for business and not merely Dynamics. This event now includes Azure, Office 365 and Big Data and not just the traditional Dynamics products.
Shot Two: Satya Nadella, CEO Microsoft Corporation was introduced by Judson. Satya indicated that business transformation is transforming technology and not the other way around. “At our core, Microsoft is the productivity and platform company for the mobile-first and cloud-first world,” said Nadella. “We will reinvent productivity to empower every person and every organization on the planet to do more and achieve more.”
Some Microsoft products that were showcased and that empower people and organizations are Delve, Power BI and Cortana. Because of the explosion of devices in a mobile first world we are seeing an explosion of data and so we need new tools to recognize the small but critical insights in the data. We are course moving into the Internet of Things (IOT) where everyday objects have network connectivity, allowing them to send and receive data.
Shot Three: Kirill Tatarinov, Executive VP of Microsoft Business Solutions was up next and he discussed that what we see is the convergence of business and technology where the two become inseparable. He expanded on “Data Culture” concept within organizations where we are enabling and empowering people to make better decisions.
What was stressed in the keynote session is the fact that the Microsoft strategy is fully embracing a Mobile first and Cloud first world. It is now a proven fact that Microsoft knows how to work the crowd. We are all pumped up and feeling the Microsoft caffeine! I know I cannot wait to see what tomorrow will bring. I end in saying, “What’s next, Chief?”
