In Dynamics NAV 2016 do you ever have trouble locating a customer, vendor, G/L Account or Bank Account number in NAV? Do you want to learn how to save time searching for these accounts in NAV? This blog was written to help users setup a default filter column, reducing the amount of time you spend searching for the data you need. Please note this functionality works on any page in NAV, by selecting a field with a drop-down list. By default, the first column is the default filter column. For example, in the screenshot below I am searching for Account No by default.
If I try to type in the Account Name, while the default filter is set to Account No., no accounts are listed.
If you are like me and prefer to find names instead of numbers, you can change the default column. Change the default column by selecting the column header(in this case the Name) then clicking the ‘Set as default filter column’ in the bottom right of the dropdown as shown in the screenshot below.
Once the column is set to default you should see the Funnel (default) symbol under the column Name. When the default column is changed, you can search the Account No. by name by typing in the field, as shown in the screen shot below.
