Many companies limit the amount of vacation time and sick days that can be rolled from year to year. NAV has a tool that assists you in forcing those limits.
It’s called the EOY Carry Forward.
Here is an example where the BAL VAC allows only 80 hours to be rolled over. We can set as many filters on the Employee as we need if we need to update only specific employees or groups of employees. When we select OK, Dynamics NAV will review the balance for BAL PTO and if it is over 80 hours, all hours over 90 will be adjusted out as posted payroll ledger entries with a 12/31/15 date.
This process really isn’t limited to being run at the end of the year. Set the Carry Forward End Date to any date you need.
